This project refurbished an old police station into six supported living apartments. It involved removing the existing electrical system and installing a new one tailored to the facility’s needs. Additionally, a solar photovoltaic (PV) system was installed to improve energy efficiency and sustainability.

What did we deliver?

The project involved the complete removal of the outdated electrical infrastructure from the old police station to make way for a modern, compliant system suitable for six supported living apartments.

The new electrical installation was tailored to the specific needs of supported living environments. Key features included:

  • Circuit protection: Advanced protection measures were implemented to ensure resident safety, focusing on circuits for socket outlets. Residual Current Devices (RCDs) and Circuit Breakers were installed, adhering to BS7671 standards for enhanced safety throughout the facility.
  • Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System: A solar PV system was installed to provide renewable energy for the apartments, enhancing energy efficiency and reducing utility costs. The system was designed to comply with G98/G99 regulations for grid connection, minimizing the facility’s environmental impact.

Planning and collaboration:

Early engagement in the planning stage allowed for close collaboration with the client, architects, and other stakeholders. This ensured the electrical design met all operational needs and regulatory requirements, and that the solar PV system was integrated effectively.

The project adhered strictly to BS7671 and other relevant regulations, including those specific to supported living facilities and solar PV installations, ensuring high standards of safety, functionality, and sustainability.
