This contract involved renovating the central seating shelter at Stanner Bank, Fairhaven Lake. The project included removing the old shelter, site preparation, and installing new features, all while ensuring minimal impact on the adjacent lake’s biological environment.
The project involved a meticulous renovation of the central seating shelter at Stanner Bank, Fairhaven Lake. The first step was the careful dismantling of the existing roof, brickwork, and supporting pillars. Following this, the concrete base was broken up and levelled with precision engineering, requiring millimetre tolerances for the new installations.
All adjoining surfaces affected by the demolition were repaired and prepared for new work. The remaining two blocks were rendered and decorated to match the existing aesthetic, ensuring a cohesive look.
Two high-security metal doors were installed in specified locations to enhance safety. In the space previously occupied by the seating shelter, a new bespoke commercial pergola was erected. This structure was designed to ensure both structural integrity and aesthetic alignment with the site.
Preparation for the pergola installation included assessing and adjusting the substrate as needed. Special attention was given to the sensitive biological environment of the adjacent lake. Measures were implemented to prevent debris contamination, including the use of barriers, dust suppression techniques, and careful handling of materials.
Overall, the project successfully transformed the shelter area while maintaining the ecological balance of the surrounding environment.
